The first week of real, meaningful football games is in the books. There were games that played out just the way we expected and games that didn't. We saw Robert Griffin III light up TCU, the best defense in the nation from the past two seasons, and we saw Landry Jones and Andrew Luck light up soft Ds the way they should. A couple of contenders got scares from lesser competition including the defending Champs from Auburn getting all they could handle from Utah State and their true freshman quarterback. We also saw a couple FCS schools get the best of lowly BCS schools Duke and Oregon State. Of course, it goes without saying that we saw Notre Dame choke because they're not very good at football.
In week two we'll see just how overrated Notre Dame is as they travel to The Big House to face a Michigan team that didn't even get to complete it's week 1 game due to some crazy weather. A lot of people on this side of the country are looking forward to the very first PAC 12 game as USC hosts Utah with both teams coming off of not so promising victories. Another interesting match-up features a new independent traveling to Austin to battle a possible future independent as BYU takes on Texas. Basically football is in full swing so it's time to start complaining about the BCS and clamoring for a playoff.
It's also time to get excited about NFL football, people. This is gonna be the first week of games after a very depressive offseason and a few weeks of pointless preseason games that, for some reason, some people watch. There are some major questions about certain teams and individual players that will be answered quickly too. Will Peyton Manning start for the Colts? The last QB to start for the Colts since Manning took over was Jim Harbaugh. You know that was a long time ago when you realize that Harbaugh is now an NFL head coach for the 49ers. How will Chris Johnson do after missing all offseason and preseason with a contract dispute? As we discussed in our first podcast, are the Eagles a real Dream Team or just an improved team?
A bunch of questions leading into the season and not a whole lot of answers for now. Can't wait for next week when we can actually discuss answers.
Oh I'm the first to leave a comment! Ross is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sexy!!!
